The CIC 2002 Keynote Address:

"How Much is Too Much?
The Economics of Concert Ticket Prices"

Alan B. Krueger, Ph.D.
Bendheim Professor of Economics and Public Affairs
Princeton University

The CIC 2002 Keynote Address will provide a completely original look at the Long-Term Impact of Rising Ticket Prices on the health of the concert industry. This issue is one of the most controversial and yet least understood parts of our business.

Professor Alan B. Krueger from Princeton University is in the process of researching concert ticket pricing trends and will present his findings February 7, the opening day of the conference. Dr. Krueger is currently the Bendheim Professor of Economics at Princeton. He obtained his doctorate in economics from Harvard University and served as the Chief Economist for the U.S. Department of Labor from 1994 to 1995.

Professor Krueger is also the editor of the Journal Of Economic Perspectives and is a regular contributor to The New York Times. It was an article he wrote for the Times on the economics of Super Bowl ticket pricing that led the CIC to engage Dr. Krueger. He will be the first non-industry professional to ever keynote the CIC and his academic approach to the long-term impact of rising ticket prices should provide unbiased results that will be of interest to professionals from all aspects of our business.
